Between the building and the interior
It is the interior of Shiseido's beauty facility "Beauty Square" in the complex "WITH HARAJUKU" in front of Harajuku Station. It is a shop-in-shop that mixes multiple cosmetic brands, hair salon, and event space. Rather than a space for expressing one brand, we are designing boundary between the building and the shop. The building is supervised by Toyo Ito, and the semi-outdoor passage connecting the street in front of the station to Takeshita-dori is provided, aiming to enhance the mobility of the town as well as inside the building. In the same way, the section of Beauty Square was facing the street in front of the station and at the same time facing the semi-outdoor aisle in the back, it was the space that could lead to Takeshita-dori. So I tried to keep this state. Functionally, lighting equipment, audio equipment, decoration, etc. were required to be hung freely according to the fluid contents, but there were restrictions on the ceiling such as load and anchor position. Therefore, two structural walls are erected from the street in front of the station to the back semi-outdoor corridor, and truss beams are placed on top of them to create the corridor-like self-sustaining structure on the floor. It takes a slight distance from the building and, like a roof, also has the function of loosely coordinating the various activities under it.

建物と内装の間
原宿駅前の複合施設「WITH HARAJUKU」の中にある資生堂の美容施設「Beauty Square」の内装である。複数の化粧品ブランド、ヘアサロン、イベントスペースなどが混在するショップインショップである。ある一つのブランドを表現するための空間というよりは、建物とショップの間に挟まれる境界部分を設計している。建物は伊東豊雄氏監修のもと、駅前通りから竹下通りへと繋がる半屋外通路が設けられ、建物内だけでなく、街の回遊性を高めることが目指されている。同様にBeauty Squareの区画も、駅前通りに面すると同時に奥の方でこの半屋外通路にも面し、そのまま竹下通りへと抜けていける空間となっていたので、この状態をできるだけ保つことに務めた。機能的には、流動的な中身に応じて照明設備、音響設備、装飾などが自由に吊れる仕組が必要とされたが、天井には荷重やアンカー位置などの制約があった。そこで、表の駅前通りから裏の半屋外通路への抜けをつくるように2枚の構造壁を立て、その上にトラス梁を乗せることで、床から自立する通路状の架構をつくっている。それは、建物からわずかに距離を取り、屋根のようにその下の様々な活動に緩いまとまりを与える機能も担っている。
